I used to be a heavy Grocery Gamer with a stockpile I was pretty proud of. But, the more I Grocery Gamed (or, more modernly, Extreme Coupon’ed), the more I realized that the majority of the stuff you can get for free or almost free was always heavily processed and ladened with fat and sugar. A lot of it got donated or thrown away. It really ended up being a waste of money.
So, now I only Grocery Game (GG) for stuff I know we’ll use. The majority of our cooking involves fresh vegetables, fruits and meats, so I only GG for things like pasta and pasta sauce, ketchup, canned soups and some canned vegetables, candy (of course!), cereal and household items like cleaning supplies and bathroom supplies.
Because no grocery stores within 100 miles of me doubles coupons, it’s exceedingly difficult to GG where I live for food. But, I generally do great with household items at CVS and Walgreens.
