<p><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continentalroute.bmp"></a></p>
<p><a href="http://www.cybercjh.com/gallery/d/257-2/continental.jpg" target="_blank"></a></p>
<p><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continental.jpg"></a><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continental.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-372" title="continental" src="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continental.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="799" /></a><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continentalroute.bmp"></a></p>
<p>Interesting to note the route they plan to take. It&#8217;s all over land. I&#8217;m guessing the plane they&#8217;re in isn&#8217;t ETOPS certified. I can&#8217;t remember what ETOPS stands for, but it has something to do with how far the plane is certified to be from a landing point, usually out over the ocean. I know it jokingly stands for <strong>E</strong>ngines <strong>T</strong>urn <strong>o</strong>r <strong>P</strong>assengers <strong>S</strong>wim. Compare it to the route the same flight took a few days ago on a plane that probably was ETOPS certified.</p>
<p><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continentalroute.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-373" title="continentalroute" src="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continentalroute.jpg" alt="" width="397" height="342" /></a><a href="http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/continentalroute.bmp"></a></p>
<p>The more direct route over the Atlantic Ocean would have saved them about 15 minutes flying time. They&#8217;re expected to land at 2:16pm &#8211; 39 minutes late. <img src='http://cybercjh.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
