It’s been a while since I posted what’s been going on with stuff. So, here’s an update for anyone interested.
- STUPID ME : I left my wallet at Arby’s yesterday. (Yes, I ate at Arby’s but whateva’ because it was Freebie Wednesday.) Luckily, a very nice person named Heather H. found my wallet, I assume saw my license, got my number from 411 and called home to tell Tina she had my wallet. I ran like the dickens over there and was fortunate enough to receive my wallet back completely in tact. So, thank you, Heather H! I have returned cell phones, wallets and drivers licenses I have found in the past. So, I’m glad the good karma came back to me. Now, I need to pass it along again.
- HOUSE : We go to closing tomorrow! The Chinese dry-wall problem turned out to be a non-issue. Yes, our house has some of this drywall, but it appears to be only in the garage. And, no where in the house do we see the signs of corrosion or other problems caused by toxic Chinese dry-wall. Not all dry-wall from China was toxic. I think we got some of the good stuff. So, we feel safe buying the house.
- TINA : Tina goes back to work on Monday. I think this is going to require a big adjustment for both of us.
- EMMA : Emma had some shots yesterday and has been cranky ever since. But, the doctor said that was to be expected. Poor Emma.
- CBAP : I am currently in the process of applying to sit for the CBAP exam. There is one item remaining on my application – a reference from a former manager. (Chop, chop there, buddy. You know who you are!)
- TRIP TO NJ : We’re thinking of going up to NJ to visit friends & family later this year. I’m torn between flying or driving. We’re still deciding.
- TRIP TO CA : We’re also thinking of going to CA to visit Tina’s family sometime next year.
That’s about it for now, I guess.

So long, wamu.com. So long, Washington Mutual.
You’re currently in the process of being amalgamated into one of the most evil financial entities on earth.
Starting Sunday, wamu.com will redirect itself to chase.com.
You were unfairly, unjustly and quite possibly illegally forced to sell yourself out to Chase. I will miss you. You were my favorite bank. But, now you’re in the hands of the supreme and evil overlord of the banking industry.
I’m sorry to see you go.

We drove up to the Vero Fashion Outlets in Vero Beach on Saturday.
Wow, what a sea of vacancy that place has become. When we first moved to Florida 3 years ago, it looked like the outlets were at almost 100% capacity.
Now, there are only about 53 stores filling the 77 that exist at the outlet mall. That’s a 31% vacancy rate. Sign of the times, I guess.
But, it was an otherwise great day. It was hot, but not ssooooooooo hot and the sun stayed in most of the time, so we didn’t bake. Emma slept almost the entire time we were there except for a few moments in The Children’s Place where we had to retreat into one of the fitting rooms so she could have something to eat.

This is all just a rumor at this point. But, I thought I’d pass this information along to anyone interested.
Target has been test-marketing a new price matching scheme in various markets for months. They were supposed to roll it out nation wide in August. But, due to a so-called glitch in this upcoming week’s ad, Target will roll out the new price matching scheme early on Sunday, July 12.
Here are the rules as we know them today …
- You can only price match the exact same identical item (size, model number, color, etc.).
- You must have the full & complete ad from the competitor (no single pages or online print-outs).
- Target will not match % off sales (if a TV is 10% off at KMart, Target will not give you 10% off).
- Target will not match membership stores (like Sam’s Club or Costco).
- Target will not price match at the register (they make you pay the Target price and then schlep on over to the customer service desk where the price match will be done).
- You will have up to 7 days after your purchase to request a price match.
A lot of questions remain unanswered at this point, like …
- Who does Target consider a competitor? Hellmart & Kmart, obviously. But, what about grocery stores like Publix and electronic stores like Best Buy and drug stores like CVS?
- Will Target price match on buy 1 get 1 free promotions?
- Will Target allow you to combine a price match after a manufacturer’s coupon? Or, will the coupon’s value count towards the price match difference?

Here’s how the cookie diet is supposed to work …
You get 6 cookie squares a day. Eat one within an hour of waking up. Eat another one every 2 to 3 hours or whenever you feel hungry. At dinner, have 10 to 12 ounces of lean protein (chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish) and up to 5 serviges of vegetables (brocolli, cabbage, mushrooms, spinach, zucchini). Eat your sixth and final cookie square for the day at bed time. Consume 64 ounces of water a day and take a multi-vitamin.
Doing this, I should lose up to 15 lbs in just 4 weeks.
This morning, I weighed 216 lbs. We shall see …
