Lo and behold, live.com was offering 40% cashback on purchases made through HP today. So, I ordered me up a new computer. The only caveat is that live.com cashback was suffering major problems all day. If by some chance, I don’t get my 40%, this sh*t is going right back to HP.

It’s 5:53am and I’m wide awake. I was up at 7am yesterday. Dinner was a success. Everything was good and the turkey came out great. We went to bed around 8:30 last night. I woke up at 11:45pm to go to the bathroom and I expected it to be 4 or 5am – I couldn’t believe it was only 11:45. Of course, I had no problem going back to bed. Woke up again around 4:30am and I’ve been up ever since. It’s freaking cold in here and it’s freaking cold outside (45 degrees)! WTF. This is too cold for Florida. Tina and her mom went to Kohl’s around 4:30am this morning – I suspect because neither of them could sleep anymore, either. Tina texted me to say the checkout lines were obscene. I gotta work today – 8:30am to who knows. Maybe I’ll leave at 2. Hehehe. Who would know? It’s not like anyone is even there today.

I think it’s time for me to start looking into getting a new PC.

My current PC is an IBM ThinkCentre 8085-24U. I bought it online direct from IBM on 3/15/05. So, in just a little over 4 months, it will be 4 years old. Here’s how the PC was originally configured and how it’s changed…

• Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHz (1MB) 800MHz FSB
• 512MB RAM … Over the years, upgraded to a total of 2.5GB RAM.
• 80GB 7200RPM IDE HDD… Upgraded to a 200GB HDD in 02/2008.
• nVidia GeForce4 64MB Video Card … Upgraded to XFX GeForce 256MB Dual-Output Video Card in 12/2006.
• CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive … No longer works, just recently died.
• 10/100 Ethernet
• 56K Modem … Modem died. New modem installed in 03/2008.
• Windows XP Home … Upgraded to Windows Vista Business.
• 17″ CRT Monitor … Upgraded to 2 Samsung 17″ LCD Monitors.

I paid $869 for this computer back in 2005. I’m currently on Lenovo’s website to see what’s available.

Update … For $914 which includes the PC, a three year warranty and Uncle Sam’s take, I can get an A57 ThinkCentre Tower in this configuration…

Tempting. Tempting. I’ll have to check HP’s offerings. I’m not interested in Dell so much, I don’t think they make very good quality products.

Wow, the Toyota dealer where I got my Highlander is selling my trade-in for $14,990.

Still though, it’s a good looking car.

I’m pretty sure that’s my old car because the Ford emblem is missing from the middle of the front driver’s side tire.

In other news, the Toyota dealer came and picked up my Highlander from work to take it and install the leather seats and running boards.

Side note: I’ve noticed I no longer refer to my car as ‘my car.’ I now call it ‘my Highlander.’ Ha!

My Highlander should be done by tomorrow, so they gave me a Camry to use tonight. That’s the car I originally went there to buy before I decided to join the SUV crew w/ HL and HB. We all now own silver SUVs. Tina’s car is also silver. I think she’s jelly though, because now she wants a new car.
